Yarn/Wire is hosting its eleventh annual International Institute May 28-June 6, 2026 in New York City. Events will take place at Roulette (Brooklyn), Yarn/Wire’s studio (Ridgewood, Queens), and at The Manhattan School of Music. In 2026, the Institute will focus on ensemble / composer creative collaborations. Yarn/Wire will guide emerging ensembles and their collaborators on building new work together and maintaining artistic relationships over time, in the same spirit that we have created music and sonic art over the past 20 years.
Applicants will submit proposals for project that pairs a small, un-conducted chamber ensemble (2-6 players) with a collaborating composer/creator. Accepted projects will develop and refine their new work over the 1-week Institute, with a public work-in-progress performance at the conclusion, complete with audiovisual documentation. The Institute will also accept proposals from a limited number of soloist-led collaborative projects.
More detailed information may be found below, and the free, online application link is above.

We accept:

A limited number of solo performers applying with a collaborator
The full Institute will be capped at 20 performers total, and 5 total collaborators/composers across the entire Institute.
